Just wanted to point out a blog that I enjoy reading. DerangedLACrimes
Deranged LA Crimes is Joan Renner’s blog about historically significant crimes in the Los Angeles area in the 20th century era. She covers the splashier ones such as the Tate-Labianca (Manson) killings and the Black Dahlia, but also some more obscure and interesting ones that have been lost to the newspaper archives.
Her day job is as an archivist for the Los Angeles Police Museum, so she definitely knows her subject. The blog posts are frequently enhanced by period newspaper clippings related to the crimes. She also reviews classic films in her Film Noir Fridays articles.
Deranged LA Crimes has been going strong since 2012 so there is plenty of material to read through. If you’re a history buff, a novelist or a fan of classic film noir there’s plenty for you to look at.
